A lively harbour with maritime roots
Hundested Harbour has strong ties to fishing and seafaring, and its maritime history can still be felt as you explore the harbour. Fishing boats, leisure craft and local businesses create an authentic working harbour atmosphere with plenty of activity along the quays.
Take a stroll along the waterfront, watch the boats and experience the contrast between the active commercial harbour and the areas where cafés, shops and creative businesses have moved into the old harbour buildings.
Art and crafts at the harbour
Art is an important part of Hundested Harbour. In the rustic harbour buildings, you will find galleries, artists and craftspeople working with ceramics, glass, jewellery and other creative crafts.
One of the harbour’s distinctive attractions is Kunstnerbyen, the artists’ quarter, where small workshops and working artists contribute to the creative atmosphere.
Seafood, ice cream and places to eat
There are plenty of opportunities to combine a stroll along the quayside with something to eat. Hundested Harbour offers fish and seafood as well as cafés, restaurants and places to stop for an ice cream.
The harbour’s maritime heritage and food scene go naturally hand in hand, and several places allow you to sit close to the water and watch harbour life while you eat.
Experiences for children and adults
Hundested Harbour also offers activities that make it a great place to explore with children. Wander along the quays, look at the fishing boats and discover the different activities around the harbour.
You will also find the Hundested Sand Sculpture Festival at the harbour, where impressive sculptures made from sand create a fascinating world of figures and stories.
Gateway to Halsnæs and North Zealand
Hundested lies between Roskilde Fjord, Isefjord and the Kattegat, making it a good starting point for exploring the coast of Halsnæs. From the harbour, you can continue to nearby beaches and natural areas or take the ferry across Isefjord to Rørvig.
